Barbara Joan Hambly (ur. 1951) amerykańska autorka fantasy i science fiction, najbardziej znana z tetralogii Zimowe krainy i książek osadzonych w świecie Star Wars i Star Trek.

Hambly ukończyła historię sredniowieczną na Uniwersytecie Kalifornijskim, pierwszą swoja powieść, Time of the Dark opublikowała w 1982 w wydawnictwie Del Rey.

Hambly przez kilka lat była zamężna z innym pisarzem SF, George Alec Effinger, do jego śmierci w 2002. Obecnie mieszka w Los Angeles. Oprócz pisania książek jej wielka pasja są podróże.
