David John Wolverton ur. w Springfield w Oregonie (1957) amerykański autor science fiction. Pisząc powieści fantasy używa pseudonimu David Farland. Jest mormonem. Pierwsze próby pisarskie zaliczył jeszcze w szkole średniej, kiedy wysłał kilka opowiadań na konkursy literackie. Ale dopiero w 1987 roku, kiedy zdobył wyróżnienie w konkursie rozpisanym przez guru scjentologów, L. Rona Hubbarda, jego pisarska kariera nabrała przyspieszenia. Od tamtej pory otrzymał nagrodę Nebula za opowiadanie "Lean Winter", był nominowany do Hugo.

David Wolverton wykłada angielski na Brigham Young University. Promuje też ruch skautowski.
