John Thomas Sladek (15 grudnia 1937 - 10 marca 2000) amerykański pisarz science fiction autor, znany z surrealistycznych powieści i satyrycznych opowiadań, wyśmiewających naukę, przesady czy społeczne zachowania.

Urodzony w Waverly, Iowa w 1937 roku, Sladek był jednym z tych amerykańskich autorów, którzy przyłączyli się do angielskiego ruchu Nowej Fali SF. W "New Wave" zadebiutował. Pierwsza jego powieść opowiada o maszynach, które budują swoje własne kopie, i który to proces wymyka się spod kontroli. Jego podejście do robotyki było odwrotnością tego, które reprezentował Isaac Asimov - u niego maszyny nie mają wmontowanych żadnych zabezpieczeń i często są psychotycznymi mordercami.

Kpił z nauki i okultyzmu, np. w opowiadaniu Arachne Rising punktem wyjścia jest trzynasty znak Zodiaku, ukrywany przez środowiska naukowe... Współtworzył powieści z innym wielkim twórcą nowofalowym, Thomasem Dischem.
