David Drake (urodzony 24 września, 1945) to autor fantastyki naukowej i fantasy. Weteran Wojny Wietnamskiej, pracował jako prawnik, jest teraz jednym z czołowych autorów militarnej fantastyki naukowej.

Drake ukończył Phi Beta Kappa w University of Iowa, na kierunkach historycznym (z wyróżnieniem) i łacinie. Jego nauka na Duke University School of Law została przerwana na dwa lata gdy został zaciągnięty do Armii Stanów Zjednoczonych. Teraz żyje w Pittsboro, North Carolina.
