Patricia Collins Wrede to amerykańska pisarka fantasy, urodzona w Chicago, Illinois. Jest najstarszym z pięciorga dzieci. Swoją pierwszą książkę ukończyła w 1978 roku, w międzyczasie pracując jako księgowa i analityk finansowy. W 1980 roku była członkiem-założycielem The Scribblies, do którego należeli także Pamela Dean, Emma Bull, Will Shetterly, Steven Brust i Nate Bucklin. Jest wegetarianką i mieszka w Minneapolis w stanie Minnesota ze swoimi trzema kotami. Nie ma własnych dzieci, ale ma cztery siostrzenice i czterech siostrzeńców.
