Martha Wells (ur. w 1964) w Fort Worth w Teksasie amerykańska pisarka, autorka powieści i opowiadań z gatunku fantasy i science fiction.
Martha Wells urodziła się w roku 1964; studiowała antropologię na A& M University w Teksasie. Opublikowała kilka powieści fantasy, dwie powieści SF osadzone w świecie serialu TV Stargate Atlantis oraz kilka opowiadań. Jej powieści zostały przełożone na osiem języków. Martha Wells mieszka wraz z mężem w Teksasie.
Podobnie jak Ellen Kushner, Emma Bull czy Susanna Clark, Wells bywa kojarzona z odmianą fantasy zwaną fantasy of manners. Jej powieści charakteryzują się socjologicznie ciekawym i dopracowanym obrazem społeczeństwa (Wells jest antropologiem z wykształcenia) oraz pogłębionym psychologicznym rysunkiem postaci.
