Tarzan wśród małp

Tarzan – postać literacka wymyślona przez Edgara Rice'a Burroughsa. Pierwsza z serii książek pt. Tarzan wśród małp (Tarzan of the Apes) była publikowana odcinkami w gazecie w 1912, a jako książka ukazała się w 1914. Potem napisał jeszcze dwadzieścia trzy dalsze części. Tarzan był synem Brytyjczyków o szlacheckim pochodzeniu, których wysadzili na bezludnej afrykańskiej wyspie buntownicy. Jego rodzice zmarli, kiedy jeszcze był niemowlęciem, a jego przygarnęły małpy. Wyrósł na potężnego mężczyznę i niejednokrotnie wykazywał cechy supermana. Kolejne książki ukazywały coraz to nowe przygody, wśród których poznał swoją miłość Jane i odnalazł rodzinę w Anglii. Pojawiali się też liczni naśladowcy opisujący przygody Tarzana, z którymi prowadzono spory sądowe o prawa autorskie. Nakręcono też wiele adaptacji filmowych. Najsłynniejszą z nich - był klasyczny cykl z Johnnym Weissmullerem, najciekawszą artystycznie - współczesny film z Christopherem Lambertem. Odnotować można też pełnometrażowy film animowany oraz serial disnejowski.
